Rejuventating & natural Kaitoke mineral hot springs
Picture this: The fragrance of native flora surrounds you and fills your lungs. You’re about to set off on a well developed, family friendly bush track, suitable for prams and wheelchairs. You start your walk and little the bug eating birds, such as fantails, robins and tomtits flitter down close, they tweet, twitter and chirp cheerfully, and make the most of you kicking up little bits of earth which disturbs the insects, feeding them lunch! It’s quite hard not to smile and delight in watching them chitter-chat and fly about. You make way on gravel track, board walks over wetlands and soon arrive at the Kaitoke hot springs after about 45mins of easy walking. You slip off your pack, tramping boots and into your togs (swimming outfit!) before melting into the much awaited rejuvenating, natural Kaitoke mineral hot springs! Soothe, soak and surrender to the bliss.
The naturally occurring warm water is actually a flowing stream which has had a few stone walls built to make pools. High in minerals, the relaxing little pools are good for loosening up the joints and cleansing the skin before you make your way back, or carry on to tramp the Aotea track.
